His 24th album "Only Everything"continues Sanborn’s return to the roots of his original inspiration in the world of R&B, blues and soul that began with 2008’s Here and Gone. The CD opens appropriately with “The Peeper” a cover of a Hank Crawford soul-jazz classic. Crawford was a major influence on Sanborn, who told JT that he was just 11 or 12 when her first heard Crawford’s version of “Don’t Cry Baby” on his From The Heart album and “it just stopped me in my tracks.” Later, when he hosted the television show Night Music, Sanborn brought his idol on as a guest and asked him to perform “The Peeper” and “Don’t Cry Baby.” Sanborn said that, “I wanted the world to hear this man’s special gift.”
The rest of Only Everything continues in the same classic groove, aided by a stripped-down band of Joey DeFrancesco on organ and Steve Gadd on drums, plus a horn section on selected cuts, adding to the vintage soul-jazz feel. On tour in support of his CD Gadd was replaced by drummer Gene Lake.

Christof Lauer Trio live at Jazzfest Berlin 2009 - UPDATE!

Christof Lauer · saxophones
Michel Godard · tuba & serpent, bass guitar
Patrice Heral · drums, percussion, vocals

recorded live at Georg-Neumann-Saal des Jazz-Institut Berlin, November 7, 2009

1. Un Regalo Per Natale (Michel Godard)
2. The Kite (Christof Lauer)
3. Mona (Patrice Heral)
4. Blues in Mind (Christof Lauer)
5. Suave Sopiro (Michel Godard)
6. Circe (Christof Lauer)
7. De Cuir et de Cuivre (Michel Godard)

Christof Lauer’s international trio of virtuoso musicians offers the added attraction that each musician plays two different instruments. Godard is a tuba player, but equally competent on the historical serpent, a slightly hoarse-sounding, snakelike exotic monster, a precursor to the ophiclieides made from wood covered in leather. Heral is an excellent drummer and percussionist as well and Lauer’s playing on soprano and tenor sax is so different in character, that one may justifiably speak of two different instruments. An ensemble of numerous possibilities this is – music with driving rhythm, lyrical with an angular edge and suffused with a soulful and strangely foreign beauty.
In 2007 Christof Lauer recorded a trio record featuring Michel Godard and Gary Husband called "Blues In Mind" released on ACT Music.

Playing the trumpet, the piano and the keyboard, Sebastian Studnitzky has created his very own sound.

Overflowing with vitality and excitement, packed with energy, the album tells many different stories. EGIS is Jazz - and a lot more. CTI stands for Creed Taylor Incorporated, better known as CTI Records, the famous jazz/fusion record label. Creed Taylor will probably not be known to everyone. However, since the Grammy success of Getz/Gilberto in 1963, Creed Taylor has been one of the few people whose songs many people can hear in their dreams. Not surprising, given his great accomplishments as the producer for John Coltrane, George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Freddie Hubbard and many others. This hints at great musical quality that under the direction of Creed Taylor himself finds its expression in the CTI All Star Band. He constantly reforms the band for recordings and the performance of special material written specifically for his line-up. Only the world's best are considered and that delivers exceptional combinations.

Tuck & Patti livet at Leverkusener Jazztage 2009

Patti Cathcart, vocals

recorded live at Forum Leverkusen, November 2009

1. A Foggy Day
2. You Ain´t Seen Nothing Yet
3. Man In The Mirror
4. Europa
5. Time After Time
6. Tears In Heaven
7. Thank You
8. Castle Made of Sand/ Little Wing

For nearly three decades, this unique vocal/guitar jazz duo has cast its passionate musical spell worldwide, capturing the hearts of lovers, the respect of jazz buffs, and the jaw-dropping awe of guitarists.
With 29 years of performing together, and 26 years of marriage, the devotion forged by this extraordinary couple shows no sign of dimming from the pressure of familiarity. For them, this pressure creates more diamond than dust. Their instinct for refining their music, their technique and their career—their home studio makeover—their house and garden renovation—never wavers from their credo: It’s not done if it’s not from the heart. And what comes from the heart demands excellence.
Onstage and off, guitarist Tuck Andress and vocalist/arranger Patti Cathcart might, at first impression, strike you as an odd couple. The obvious difference in skin color is quickly overshadowed by the contrast of their personalities. Patti exudes the soft, centered yet powerful graciousness of a gospel singer; Tuck almost wears his brain on his skin, anticipating the thousands of musical decisions he’ll have to send to his ten fingers during the course of a performance. Seeing the virtuosity and complexity of Tuck's guitar work, most are surprised to learn that Patti is the actual writer, arranger, and producer. Without even blinking, Tuck-the-problem-solver brags, “Patti writes and arranges; I am just the orchestra.”
Their latest recording "I remember you" was released in 2007.

Julian & Roman Wasserfuhr live at Leverkusener Jazztage 2009

Julian Wasserfuhr – trumpet
Roman Wasserfuhr – piano
Lars Danielsson - bass, cello
Anders Kjellberg - drums
Nils Landgren - trombone, vocals

recorded live at Forum Leverkusen, November 2009

2. Dusan (Wasserfuhr)
3. Blue Desert
4. Why Should I Care
5. Song For E. (Danielsson)
6. Geno The Shoeshine (Wasserfuhr)

When asked who the most talented young musicians in Germany are, the answer echoes back from the rural town of Hückeswagen near Cologne. Surrounded by hills and forest live two brothers who play “with a magical tone” (Süddeutsche Zeitung) that is “of the finest quality” (JazzPodium). Their 2006 homage to Chet Baker, Remember Chet, was celebrated as a “stunning debut” (Süddeutsche Zeitung). In faraway Sweden, Nils Landgren heard about these young musicians’ abilities through the jazz grapevine, and decided he wanted to produce the two shooting stars inviting the brothers to that famous sound kitchen in which Landgren has cooked up his own highly successful albums, the Nilento Studio in Gothenburg. Since the world famous trombonist doesn’t do things by half, he picked out Sweden’s most prominent musicians for the session: with one of the most important voices in European jazz, bassist and cellist Lars Danielsson was a fantastic addition to the brothers’ sound. Anders Kjellberg also works beautifully with the overall musical concept, fitting right in the groove with clockwork timing that is consistently focused and mindful. Understatement is given its real worth when the barely 21-year-old Julian launches into his breathy trumpet tone, astonishing in its substance and clarity. Roman is the other pole that makes the brothers’ playing so attractive - on piano, Julian’s two-year-older alter ego is the empathetic and resourceful initiator. With their innate talent for strong melodies, the art by which the Wasserfuhrs narrate their marvellous jazz tales is pure pleasure to the ears. Just as in a fairytale, Julian and Roman Wasserfuhr have been awakened by their Swedish fellow travellers with a musical kiss. With Upgraded in Gothenburg (released on ACT) the brothers have been enhanced and advanced; “We make authentic music that’s honest and sincere. It’s music that is close to our hearts, and we think that people appreciate that.”

The latest edition of the trio featuring Danish bassist Jonas Westergaard and "Hyperactive Kid" Christian Lillinger from Berlin on drums released the live album "live in Berlin - vol.1" on Wizmar-Records in May 2010.

Wolfgang Muthspiel Trio live at Schloss Elmau 2009

Wolfgang Muthspiel, Guitar
Matthias Pichler, Bass
Andreas Pichler, Drums

recorded live at 10th European Jazztival Schloss Elmau, Germany, November 25, 2009

1. "Radiohead" (Wolfgang Muthspiel)
2. "Sleep" (Wolfgang Muthspiel)
3. "Air, love and vitamins" (Harry Pepl)
4. "Shanghai" (Wolfgang Muthspiel)
5. "Etude 1 u. 2" (Wolfgang Muthspiel)
6. "Mehldau" - Excerpt (Wolfgang Muthspiel)

For his new trio Wolfgang Muthspiel has engaged two young musicians from Tyrol, the twin brothers Matthias and Andreas Pichler. On bass and drums they form a counterpoint to his guitar improvisations. The objective of the new trio is the development of a band sound with material written specifically for this lineup. Not a band put together for only one tour but a "working band", whose members are committed (and available) to a long term view. An ensemble, whose individual components are not exchangeable, independent of their name value.
The highly talented twins are yet a well kept secret in the jazz world. Their stylistic openness, their dedication to the moment, (the main element of improvisation), and their understanding of rhythm have convinced Muthspiel to start a new band with them. Their recording "Bright Side" was released on Material Records.
