This is a very special concert: Joe Zawinul revisiting his first instrument, the accordion he used to play - and prepare- during his childhood in Austria. In this concert he meets two true masters of the accordion: Lelo Nika from Serbia and his fellow Asutrian Otto Lechner.
The Zawinul Syndicate visited the North Sea Jazz Festival earlier the same year. I´ve got only one track of this concert, so I post it as a "bonus track". It´s "Borges Buenos Aires", feat. Joe Zawinul, keyboards, Maria João, vocals, Amit Chatterjee, guitar, Etienne M´Bappe, bass, vocals, Nathaniel Townsley, drums & Manolo Badrena, percussion.

Zawinul calls this band an "Ausländerband" (band of aliens): Fareed Haque, the "sitar meister who practiced all his lifetime" is from Pakistan, Arto Tuncboyaciyan is from Armenia, Paco Sery from Ivory Coast, Matthew "Matteo" Garrison (the son of bass legend Jimmy Garrison) has an Italian mother and Zawinul himself is of course from Vienna...
This is the first concert of a Zawinul series I´ll post here...
